Day 4 of 40

When You’re Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea

“The Lord will fight for you; you only need to be still.” | EXODUS 14:14

Today’s excerpt from Climbing Prayer Mountain:

“The word still means to quiet yourself, not by looking back at the enemy or at the sea of impossibility before you, but rather by looking up the LORD, the One who ‘fights for you.’ The Father will not abandon you in your trial… Be still prayers are desperately needed in a culture consumed with nonstop rushing, rooted in the fear of what is behind and before. At this moment, take a few deep breaths and still your rushing mind. Just gaze on King Jesus, your deliverer.”

Be reminded that God often asks us to live in a way that is radically different from the world around us. Why is it so hard to be still?

Today’s prayer: Lord, teach me how to ‘be still’ today and to believe that you are fighting for me.
