Reflecting on 40 Day Prayer Challenge with Ray Spykstra

I had the privilege of interviewing my dad, Ray Spykstra for this podcast. Listen in as he shares some amazing stories from his experience of reading and giving away over a 100 “Draw the Circle – The 40-Day Prayer Challenge,” books by Mark Batterson.

One of the stories he shares in the podcast is about a man named John Bandimere, one of the owners of Bandimere Speedway in Colorado. Right after our podcast my dad received a letter from John telling my dad that all 7 of his siblings started the “Prayer Challenge.”

I hope you will be blessed by listening to this Podcast and hearing how the Holy Spirit is moving through the prayers of His people.

I’m in the middle of the book “40 days of prayer” and it is transforming my prayer life and exciting me as I see God challenging me in this area.

I just wanted to add that despite the apprehension faced prior to the podcast, upon Ray’s return home a package was in the mailbox. In the package was a letter from the man who had received the books stating that all his brothers and sisters were joining him in the 40 Day Prayer Challenge AND he also included two of his favorite books as a tangible thank you! It seems whenever we step out in faith, doubt, fear and even a desire to quit often accompany that leap of faith. What a wonderful testimony of God’s faithfulness with a letter and books being delivered at such as time as this! We praise God for the tool of prayer and that we can encourage one another in this life journey!

P.S. Please continue to pray for the groups from Holland, MI and Parker, CO that are in Lesotho at this time!

This was inspiring! Usually first thing on Tuesday I check out this blog, however this week I had some things that I needed to take care of so today Wednesday June 8 I finally set aside the time for this. The reason I made note of the date I listened to this is because today I praise God’s goodness and mercy in my life as I celebrate 30 years of sobriety. What a blessing to hear your dad Ray give testimony to God’s faithfulness in his life and how God used Ray’s alcoholism to draw Ray closer into a love relationship with Him. Yes and Amen to that. I too can testify to that!
Thank-you all for how you share about Abba’s love in such real and beautiful ways and for teaching me about praying to have open eyes to His divine appointments.
    Bless you!
